I thought my very first blog post should answer two simple questions: who am I, and why on earth did I start making ceramic fridge magnets?
So grab a hot cuppa and let's take a little walk down memory lane.
I've always been a creative person with a slightly unhealthy obsession for homewares. As someone who loves making a house feel like a home, I was constantly searching for cute, modern fridge magnets that could hold shopping lists, postcards, notes and polaroids while still looking beautiful.
Surprisingly, they were harder to find than you'd think.
Around the same time, I'd been taking pottery classes at local Ōtautahi Christchurch studios and completely fallen in love with working with clay. As an anxious gal myself, spending a few hours away from screens, with a hot cup of tea nearby and a soft playlist in the background, quickly became one of my favourite rituals.
There was something special about slowing down and making things by hand.
Before long, those two worlds collided.
I started experimenting with ceramic magnets for my own fridge, creating little pieces that felt playful, colourful and full of personality. Magnets that were practical enough to hold a shopping list, but cute enough to make me smile every time I walked into the kitchen.
And just like that, Fridge Party was born.
Today, every Fridge Party piece is handmade and hand-glazed by me right here in Christchurch, New Zealand.
At its heart, Fridge Party exists to make everyday spaces feel more personal, expressive and a little more fun. Through small-batch ceramic magnets, I'm reimagining everyday décor as something that reflects your personality and tells your story.
Because why should the fun stop at gallery walls, bookshelves and coffee tables?
Your fridge deserves some love too.
The name Fridge Party comes from the idea that ordinary spaces can still feel joyful. Whether you're a renter, homeowner, serial list-maker or proud collector of photos and keepsakes, I believe the little corners of our homes should make us smile.
So thank you for being here at the very beginning.
